I watched this with my Dad tonight. I did not like it…and the red hot, boiling response in my chest is so strong right now…that I must refrain from writing. For I fear that I may say something I would regret in the morning. So good night.
I’m heading here tomorrow afternoon for an overnight stay. This monastery has one of the best theological librarys in the NW…booyah! I’m looking forward to hanging out with my pastor buddy #SuperDave whose retreating there currently and getting in on some much needed rest and praying the Hours with the Benedictine Monks.
I listened to this 6 hour series on my way down to Portland. I give it 4 stars out of 5 stars. Great series especially for anyone who is new to the gospel as it relates to peace between men…not just peace with God. Greg Boyd speaks on one cd from the material of his upcoming 400 page book about Jesus Vs Jehovah…it’s going to be a barn burner!

What do you think the bible teaches about predestination of believers/nonbelievers? If God is Love how does He consign a baby to hell before it is born, ala Judas?
First of all, I think the John Calvin and Martin Luther’s were right when they warned of the dangers and pitfalls of trying to understand the deep mysteries of such sovereign workings. Calvin warned that it could become: “…a labyrinth, from which the mind of man can by no means extricate itself.” And, Luther, the wild boar of the reformation warned: “The old Adam must be quite dead before you can endure this matter and drink this strong wine. Therefore make sure you don’t drink wine while you are still a babe at the breast.” I tend to think such discussions are had by folks less capable to truly engage the subject matter with a mind willing to do the work of study required to understand such matters and people often end up doing more damage to themselves and others by the conversations.
I persoanlly, don’t think God punishes finite babies with ETC: (Eternal, Conscious Torment).
